How to Make the Rose Bud:
Step 1 - Select the Fabric

The first step is to select the fabrics for the rose. First pick a focus fabric that will be your value #3. Then pick one fabric that is very light (value #1) and one that is very dark (#5). Then select two fabrics that can transition between those and #3. You will also need four green fabrics ranging light to dark.
